inThe Sociometer Theory was first introduced by Prof. Mark Leary and his colleagues in 1995. Self-esteem, the theory states, is a gauge of how well we are doing, in terms of our interactions with others and how much acceptance and belonging we feel.
Our confidence levels are directly linked to these perceptions.
